2. To simulate your brain. Writing has been shown to increase neural activity more than typing can. Yep . . . there’s a connection between handwriting and brain development/cognition. And honestly, I feel like I can tell. I remember being in college and writing notes as the instructors gave their lectures; I was only able to retain the messages if I wrote them down. I also love the potential for challenging myself to use bigger words (am I the only one with a decreased vocabulary in my late 30s??)
3. You’re creating memories. I have a special box of cards, letters, drawings, and childhood memories that I’ve kept forever. Everyone I know has this same sort of box. In fact, when my grandfather passed away I got all of the letters and cards I’d ever written him and my (also late) grandmother. It was so special to look through those handwritten messages.
4. You get offline. I KNOW I’m not the only one who spends too much time online. Lately I’ve been making a focused effort to get offline, and that includes knitting and adult coloring books. Letter writing is now in my repertoire, my friends.
5. You’ll focus. When I write letters, I have to
figure out what I want to say . . . make a mental plan . . . and then
execute. Writing, at least for me, takes concentration. Errant thoughts
can’t run through my head, which is really nice. I love being able to
focus on one thing at a time, especially in this digital age.
Are you convinced – and are you wanting to get on the handwritten letter train? Make sure you have the correct writing tools! Office Depot has two AMAZING options for pens that make hand writing a breeze. Because everyone likes a good pen when they write . . . especially me! Here they are, the uni-ball® 307™, and uni-ball® AIR™. Both products have 3-way protection against water, fading and fraud:
So what are the features of these fancy pens? The uni-ball® 307™ is a gel pen with skip-free writing AND you can write on glossy paper with no smudges (which is awesome). There’s a textured grip so that it doesn’t slip through your fingers.
Your other option? The uni-ball® AIR™ writes an ANY angle, which I particularly love. It’s a roller ball ben with a bold ink laydown, and the pen itself is “corporate office attire” worthy . . . it looks great!
Purchase your uni-ball® at Office Depot! Now my question for you – when was the last time you wrote a handwritten letter?
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Uni Ball. The opinions and text are all mine.
